APCC9 Chair’s Welcome Message

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 9th Asia-Pacific Chromosome Colloquium (APCC9), to be held from September 2–4, 2025, at Toho University Narashino Campus in Chiba, Japan. It is a true honor for us to host this long-standing colloquium and to open our doors once again to the vibrant community of chromosome researchers across the Asia–Pacific region.

Since its inception in 2001, the Asian Chromosome Colloquium—now the Asia-Pacific Chromosome Colloquium—has grown from a small but passionate gathering of colleagues into a unique forum that fosters deep scientific exchange, collegial discussion, and enduring friendships. Each meeting has reflected the spirit of its hosts, from Beijing and Daejeon to Osaka, Bangkok, Canberra, and Busan, and the colloquium has continued to thrive thanks to the dedication of many researchers who have shaped its history over the past two decades.

Building on this tradition, APCC9 embraces the theme:
“Frontiers in Chromosome Research: Driving Next-Generation Genomics, Evolution, and Biodiversity.”
Our goal is to bring together cutting-edge genomic approaches—including large-scale next-generation sequencing—with classical cytogenetics, and to share emerging insights across diverse fields such as biodiversity, evolution, and breeding. Through this integrative perspective, we hope the colloquium will spark new ideas, stimulate lively discussion, and promote the continued growth of chromosome science in our region.

We warmly invite researchers, students, and collaborators from throughout the Asia–Pacific community and beyond to join us.
Your participation is essential to creating the open, welcoming, and intellectually stimulating atmosphere that has defined APCC for more than 20 years. We sincerely hope APCC9 will provide not only a platform for scientific exchange but also an opportunity to build new friendships and strengthen our shared network.

We look forward to welcoming you to Japan and to sharing an inspiring and memorable colloquium together.

Warm regards,

Yuji Goto
Chair, APCC9 Organizing Committee
