Guidance on Transportation in Japan: IC Cards (Suica/PASMO)
To ensure a smooth and seamless travel experience between the venue, the museum, and the Asakusa area, we highly recommend that all international participants prepare an IC Card (Suica or PASMO) upon arrival in Japan.
1. For iPhone Users: Apple Pay (Highly Recommended)
The easiest way is to add a Suica or PASMO card directly to your Apple Wallet before or after arriving in Japan. There is no deposit fee, and you can top up using your registered credit card.
How to add: Open the Wallet app > tap the "+" sign > select "Transit Card" > search for "Suica" or "PASMO" and follow the instructions.
Note: Some international Visa cards may have compatibility issues with in-app charging. Mastercard and American Express generally work smoothly.
2. For Physical Card Users: Special Cards for Tourists
Welcome Suica (JR East):https://www.jreast.co.jp/en/multi/suica/
Available at: Narita and Haneda Airport JREast Search Centers or dedicated vending machines.
Validity: Valid for 28 days (No deposit required; however, remaining balances cannot be refunded).
3. Where to Use
These cards are valid for almost all trains, subways, and buses in Tokyo. They can also be used for small purchases at convenience stores (Seven-Eleven, Lawson, etc.) and many vending machines.
